Black body systems are used to calibrate infrared pyrometers and are the best choice for this due to their high emissivity. Stirred baths allow for water or fluid, typically oil, to be heated to a precise temperature. A calibrated sensor is then inserted into the bath as a reference point. This allows other devices to be measured against the reference point to test accuracy of instruments.
