Smart Monitor Systems – Alarm System on Refrigerators for Blood

Smart Monitor Systems, a customer of Pyrosales, developed an alarm system over 20 years ago to monitor and manage the temperature of fridges for the storage of blood samples. Across various pathology laboratories in NSW, the system is designed to notify staff when there is a temperature deviation from a predetermined value.

It is essential that blood storage facilities are controlled and monitored in order to comply with Department of Health guidelines. Blood must be in an environment where the temperature is maintained between 2-6°C and it can have a shelf life of up to 42 days.

The monitoring alarm systems require ongoing maintenance. Smart Monitor Systems use resistance temperature devices, known also as RTDs due to their high accuracy and precise measurement.
